Ambassadors act as the good will, public relations arm of the Chamber. They welcome all members and guests to Chamber functions. They also plan the monthly Business After Hours and Rise and Shine programs. Their purpose is to make all members feel welcome and encourage them to become active in the organization. Ambassadors also aid in retention of members. As a group, the Ambassador Club meets monthly on the last Tuesday.
BULLDOG BONANZA COMMITTEE
Each year a large number of new residents come to our community to further their education. Ferris State University representatives and the Bulldog Bonanza committee bring together Chamber members and University administration with the goal of helping students become a part of the community during their education. Their major event is a retail expo called the Bulldog Bonanza held in the fall. A minimum of 2 meetings are held between Chamber and FSU staff in August of each year.
CHAMBER PROMOTIONS COMMITTEE
The Promotions committee meets monthly, all year, and is responsible for educating members, potential members and community members, in Mecosta County, on the events, programs and functions of the Chamber.
COMMUNITY AND FAMILY EXPO COMMITTEE
This annual event is in collaboration with the Great Start Collaborative, Big Rapids Public Schools and Project Connect and is scheduled for the last Saturday in April. This event is a retail and services expo to offer members a marketing opportunity. This committee meets January through May.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING COMMITTEE
This council is concerned with providing educational opportunities for members. As a service to the members, the committee organizes workshops, meet-the-candidate events and hosts speakers on issues timely to our members, including legislative issues. They seek out information from a variety of sources. As a group, the committee meets monthly.
GOLF OUTING COMMITTEE
In mid-winter, the Golf Outing Council begins preparations for the annual golf outing held on the third Wednesday in May. As a fund-raiser, the golf outing continues to provide the Chamber with the resources it needs while bringing members together for an enjoyable day. As a group, the committee meets January through May.
HOLIDAY GALA COMMITTEE
The Holiday Gala Council prepares for several months for one of the largest annual fund-raising events in Mecosta County. The Gala draws approximately 250 Chamber members and guests on the first Friday in December for an evening of fun. The formal dinner event features raffles, auctions, and entertainment. As a group, the committee meets July through December.
LABOR DAY ARTS & CRAFTS COMMITTEE
The committee promotes and oversees the Labor Day Arts & Crafts Festival, held in Hemlock Park each year. One of the area's largest events as well as a fundraising tool, the festival features more than 130 exhibitors and draws an estimated 15,000 visitors to the community each year. As a group, the committee meets May through September.
LEADERSHIP MECOSTA ADVISORY COMMITTEE
The Chamber offers an annual leadership program that runs September through May. Participants enjoy an overnight retreat and then meet on the second Thursday of each month. This committee works with the program facilitator to assist with promotion, recruitment and to ensure that the program is serving its intended function. This committee meets on an as-needed basis.
MECOSTA COUNTY BUILD TEAM
The build team is responsible for keeping up on existing buildings, building owner contact information, current leases and preferred business types for each community in Mecosta County. The team works with each community to attract desired businesses to their area and keep their communities full and vibrant. This committee meets on an as-needed basis.
TASTE OF MECOSTA COMMITTEE
The Taste of Mecosta is an expo-style event held in February each year. The event allows restaurants and caterers to showcase samplings of their cuisine to the community. A portion of the proceeds benefit the Leadership Mecosta program in the way of scholarships. The committee meets December through February.
