    Event Description:
The Space Between by Tatsuki Hakoyama The Space Between is an art exhibit that explores the perception of value, whether constructed through cultural or generational shifts. Through juxtaposition of symbols, these paintings attempt to find balance in order to preserve history within the present and culture within a world of homogenization. The Space Between consists of two distinct sets of paintings that reflect and approach the notion of “third-space”—as discussed by Homi Bhabha—through different viewpoints. Although different in style, all of the works consider the notion of opposition within cultural and social values as a necessity for critical discourse, in order to find balance between the social boundaries that are created.
